Magnesium Acetate

Magnesium Acetate is a salt composed of magnesium ions (Mg2+) and acetate ions (C2H3O2-). It has the chemical formula Mg(C2H3O2)2. This compound is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and has a slightly acidic taste. Magnesium acetate is formed by the reaction of magnesium oxide or hydroxide with acetic acid.

In terms of its molecular structure, magnesium acetate consists of a positively charged magnesium ion and two negatively charged acetate ions. The ions are held together by ionic bonds, which are strong electrostatic attractions between ions of opposite charge.

Magnesium acetate has several important applications in various industries including medical and cosmetics.
